I felt thwarted today. I tried to pay the rent, and the office was having system problems and asked me to come back later. I tried to get the car inspected; usually when I call ahead about an appointment they say to just come in sometime, but today when I didn't they had too many appointments for a walk-in.

Oh, well. I can do those tomorrow. I did get some writing and some laundry done. Although the laundry was more exciting than hoped -- I went to open up the dryer and smelled a scorched odor. I'd cleaned the lint trap, but inspection proved that some had apparently escaped.... anyway, I think (hope) I got it adequately cleaned out now. At any rate, nothing is on fire.

And hey, on Rescreatu I won the writing competition. Granted, I think I was one of three entries. But still!

And the Neopets plot looks fun....

Seriously. I thought their whole point in life was to take money?

I'm so happy you won! I loved your story. Maybe I'll give it a go for the next one, barring being eaten alive by essays again.

With the IRS? That's just frightening.

To be fair, the apartment office could have taken a check, but I get a 1% rebate from the credit card company and hadn't brought the checkbook. I think I may have been responsible for their discovering the problem though, as the guy actually started to try to process it instead of just telling me from the start that it was down. I'm useful?
