It is a really pretty day. Warm but not hot, sunny but not blinding.
And I don't think I did this the first time it went around, so... ship meme. Mention one and I will write 100 words or thereabouts, may be favorable, unfavorable, speculative, whatever. If I have no idea what you're talking about, however, I do not promise the full wordcount. *g*
Edited to add: Will also happily discuss nonromantic relationships. Designate with an ampersand.

Date: 2005-03-31 02:27 am (UTC)I'll start with the general... I tend to assume that all four of the Founders liked each other, at least part of the time, although I also assume the friendships were rather volatile. I think these assumptions were reinforced and supported by OotP, though I'll still sometimes read and enjoy other interpretations.
That said, there's quite a bit of room for different personalities for each one -- we know a set of things they valued, and we know the current reputations of their houses, and we know they all built the school and wound up fighting over it.
I'm not exclusive about any given Founder romance. They're prime candidates for pairing with OCs, actually. *g* But for inter-Founder romances... hm... I'll take Godric/Helga.
Helga/Godric seems, at first glance, somehow the blandest of Founder pairings, and I don't quite like this reaction on my part, so I thought I'd talk about them until it went away. I actually tend to favor Helga/Salazar and Godric/Rowena, insofar as I do inter-Founder shipping, and have sometimes gotten the feeling that Helga/Godric are the leftovers when people who consider Salazar and Rowena the more interesting, intellectual, and perhaps amorally glamourous pair them off. Also, the yellow and gold thing strikes me as vaguely disconcerting and glittery.
But it's not like any of that means they should be uninteresting. I think there would be a great deal of strength in that relationship -- both parties strike me as very solid and sturdy, and I don't mean that in at all a derogatory way. Even if they place their priorities differently, I think Helga would approve of standing up for those put at a disadvantage, and I think it can take a good deal of courage as well to hang onto stated Hufflepuff values. I also have a tendency to picture Helga as something of a warrior, or at least fierce (and fearsome) when given reason... and depending on what mood I'm in I picture her as being very warm or very demanding or more likely both. Godric may be the easygoing one.
