I must remember that although I may not completely control what fleeting thoughts and impulses pass through my mind and body, what I dwell on and what I do are my choice and my responsibility.
I must remember that what I choose to dwell on will train my mind and affect later fleeting thoughts and impulses.
I must remember that if I know acting on an impulse is unwise, it is unwise to prepare to follow it even if I stop at the last minute.
I must teach myself to concentrate on productive and healthy topics, such as actually doing what I need or want to accomplish.
I must teach myself not to concentrate on irritants that are trivial, impossible to remove, or not worth the effort it would take to remove them.
As an example of appropriate concentration, I must now stop blithering in my LiveJournal and finish editing my presentation.
