Brilliant, really brilliant.... I have been fortunate, by and large, in the feedback I receive on HPfics. This, however, is just silly. [livejournal.com profile] dreagoddess and I have just been informed that it's impossible for Tom and Hagrid to be brothers, because Tom's father was a Muggle and Hagrid's parents were a wizard and a giantess.

Well, yes, this is accurate as far as it goes. And Tom's mother was, in canon, years dead by the time either boy would have been in Hogwarts. That would be why the story is labeled as part of the Stepbrothers AU series.

I'm sort of mystified as to how they managed to read enough to get the idea that the characters were brothers, yet miss the, um, name and whole concept of the series.

*tisks* Really, you and Andrea should pay closer attention to canon next time. Like I do in Savior of Darkness. :P

You know, this takes the cake. I've had feedback from people who hadn't read the author's notes, or worked out which version of the X-Men I was writing about. But not reading the series title before starting on a story has to set some sort of record *g*.

To be as fair as possible, I will admit that what with the site formatting and all, the series title may have been noted only in the story summaries. I can't remember if we put it on the story-page itself. It's possible that they got to the first chapter without ever seeing the summary page... but you'd also think the characters' curious practice of referring to one parent each as an aunt or uncle might suggest there was something going on. (Odd way for the terms to come out, I realize, but I think we decided they got entrenched before the remarriage was really thought of.)
