The problem(?) of secondhand fandom news

Every time someone posts about "Captain Jack" in Doctor Who or Torchwood, I picture Jack Sparrow instead of Jack Harkness.

I have seen pictures of the actual character. I just don't seem to retain him.

Despite being a (recent) Torchwood fan, I still think Captain Jack is Sparrow, not Harkness.

For me, it's more that if people describe what happened in an episode where Harkness appeared, I'm picturing Sparrow.

Oh good, it's not just me. I think it's Jack Sparrow's repetition of Captain, and the fact that I've never seen an episode of Torchwood.
