This can't be good.

My (recently acquired) laptop has adopted a tendency, with no pattern I can identify, to fail to boot sometimes. I thought at first I had solved this by recalibrating the battery, but that seems after all not to be the case.

I shall let it sit for a little while and have lunch, and when it comes up today (as it had darned well better), I shall finish fiddling with and send off the file I need to send.

And then this evening when I manage to get it to boot at home, I shall back everything up on the external hard drive I got for that purpose, check the troubleshooting guides in the manual, and probably try contacting Apple.

Siiiiiiiiigh. I bet there's no way they could get me a replacement in time to get it set up before my next trip.

ETA: It came up, and the file is away. Whew #1. I also found a page suggesting a possible solution for this sort of thing on the Apple support site, and the lab's Mac expert has offered assistance, so numbering may go up. Who knows.

To do this evening and/or by the end of the month (how's that for vague?!):
Go home.
Eat dinner.
Drink water. (This is probably made easier by the fact that we are now out of cola. *eyerolls at self*)
Work on nagging poem.

Back up laptop.
