Aug. 14th, 2006 02:34 pmDid we use up all the excessive heat earlier? *looks hopeful* I was outside at lunchtime today and it was nice!
(I'm sure it will get over it.)
Something fell on my head and went "plop" while I was passing under a tree. To my considerable relief, it was a pine needle.
Weird moment that will only make sense to a certain subset of the friendlist: I was on my way home from buying strainers yesterday and the lady on the radio said, "This is Jen Scott...."
Yes, folks, Aliya has moved to the 21st century and become a DJ.
The strainers, by the way, were because we medicated the bees for mites yesterday, and while the hive that swarmed hadn't really done much with their second super, the one that hadn't had about half of them pretty much full (and the rest sort of half full). So we've taken those off and are freezing the ones we plan to give back to them and have some very pretty chunks of honeycomb and some that I decided to crush.
It's a small crop, but tasty. Next year, if they overwinter okay, we really need to plan for extraction. We weren't expecting any extra this summer!

Date: 2006-08-14 07:05 pm (UTC)Jen Scott was one of the DJ's on the now-shut-down radio station staple of my youth. I wonder if it's the same person.
It's nice here too. :)It was downright cold last night.

Date: 2006-08-14 09:06 pm (UTC)I could use some of that heat here, I still have yet to adapt to Oregon weather. (Re-adapt?)
Some honeycomb sounds good. I've been having honey on my english muffins for breakfast every morning (and in my tea - but that's normal)
Drat it, now you've gone and made me hungry. *grin*
