Can't count. Bother. We're on the seventh story, not sixth. Though how we count the prequels I'm truly not sure.

This made me smile: I was feeling down a few weeks ago and asked my mother on IM where my optimism had gone, then made a joke about looking under the desk for it.

Okay, it wasn't there. That night I was looking in the bathroom cupboard for a new stick of deodorant and found one.

Scent: Optimism.

Drat. I didn't even notice, so I can't count either. I think we just count the prequels as prequels, mysteriously aloof from conventional numbering standards. They are enigmas, the prequels, daring readers to find out just what it is about them that defies integer value . . .
