Owph. I decided that it was probably somewhat ridiculous that my husband can run a 5K completely cold, without having actually done any running in weeks, and I've never completed a mile run in my life without walking part of the way. (I have completed about a 12-minute mile at a walk, however.) So I am trying one of several programs that are supposed to help the generally sedentary person start running.
It's actually supposed to get you up to 30 minutes/3 miles within eight weeks. That seems mind-boggling at the moment, but what the heck, I did the first one today. I think a track instead of a treadmill might work a bit better; the recommended workouts involve a lot of alternating between a walk and a jog to start with, and it takes several seconds and some very awkward pacing to make the switch.
Hrm. Time to go do...something else productive. *dives back into presentation for tomorrow*

Date: 2006-01-09 03:58 am (UTC)The fact that my mile walk time for the PE class in walking was about twelve minutes and at least one of my high school PE times was over eleven tells you something.
Curious
