Oh, right...

I'm back. Hi! We visited various relatives for Christmas and dropped off presents for the one grandmother we missed.
I must tackle thank-you notes. Promptly. Which would mean in the remaining hour of today, ideally.
My brother-in-law gave me a cross-stitch kit. I was especially pleased by this because I'd been regretting not mentioning, when asked what sort of things I'd like, that I wanted to get back into doing more stitching! (Of course, I'm not sure whether anyone was aware I hadn't been doing much of it anyway....)
I ended up plotting more bits of "Something Better Than This" a couple days ago. I think I came up with a different ending for Voldemort (which may mean he had to be killed three times before it took), some weird results of Godric teaching Harry Legilimency, a comparison of magic to wings, and a silly conversation involving Salazar, Hermione, and a house-elf.
Aw, heck, it'll take a few more chapters at least to get to the elf, even if the scene ends up fitting, so I will go ahead and plop it in here:
"I'm suggesting caution," Salazar said. "The brownies -- or house-elves -- I have had the opportunity to meet tended to be... huffy. Easily offended."
There was a squeaky "Hmmph!" from the side of the corridor.
Salazar froze, then turned slowly with the rest of them to look.
A small and grumpy-looking house-elf in a neat tea-towel frowned up at Salazar. "Huffy is not easily offended," it said indignantly. "Huffy is a good house-elf!"
Salazar recovered swiftly and swept it a bow. "I beg your pardon," he said. "I had no intention of being inaccurate or insulting, and I apologize."
"Don't be doing it again," said the house-elf, and vanished.

There's never any real description of her, and for some reason I've always pictured her with long, straight black hair and semi-brown skin. Sort of Indian. As a complete opposite, my sister sees her as blonde and freckled. Mind telling me what was intended?
Thanks,
