I mean anybody who would help Hufflepuff out in a competition against the other three Houses. *g* If you can think of any, write more drabbles? We're way behind. I can contribute up to 11 more, but that won't be enough.
Mmm... I might write one or two. But I'm reluctant to get too competative with this. Last time that happened it felt a bit silly, you know? Like it was too much of a competition. Besiedes, the other houses need to win every now and then... just to give them a taste of victory, you know? But seriously. I like a bit of competition as much as the next girl, but I think it would be a little too much to write lots just so we can win. Sorry.
The other houses have had plenty of tastes of victory; it's just that most of them haven't been this year. Hufflepuff had six wins at the end of 2004. Six. Out of eighty-six weeks. For comparison, Ravenclaw had 33 (plus three ties) and Slytherin 24 (plus two ties).
But if the competition part isn't fun for you, that's your call.
Oh, the competition is part of the fun, it's just not all of the fun. For me it feels a bit like cheeting to make up lots of 100 drabbles purely to win. I'd rather create a few beautifully worded drabbles and loose, than lots of realy crap ones and win. The play's the thing, and all that. But maybe I'm just being very English. (: I'll try to contribute something anyway, as much as I can. What can I say, you've goaded me! :D
And you really do write beautiful ones. I still need to comment on the Founders' favorite seasons one, especially.
I tend to procrastinate about writing in general, I'm afraid, and the challenge and competition provide me with incentive to dig up some ideas that I might never think of otherwise, or follow through if it meant writing a longer story -- or sometimes to condense older ones to see whether they're effective in a smaller space.
I do agree that quality is important. I don't want to post things I should be ashamed of having written just for the count. (On the other hand, I admit I've posted a few that I haven't thought were very interesting, but usually someone else seems to -- which is educational in its own way.)
I agree, there's no point in posting Bad Drabbles, and I have discarded many drabbles that I decided I didn't like.
However, part of the fun of the contest for me is the socializing, banner waving and cross house teasing! (And winning. There are weeks when I really need the ego-boost.)
I've been visiting Ravenclaw journals as well as Hufflepuff journals to encourage them to post today. :-)
The teasing has gotten really fun. And I have to admit to remembering some really spectacular Ravenclaw drabbles written during the week or two when the competition got kind of crazy!
First off, I've always posted for Ravenclaw, because it's always been my favorite house canon-wise. I'd agree that the competition isn't a big part of why I post, but it would be nice to win every now and then. Hufflepuff's been winning by huge amounts lately (congradulations for that, by the way), but I'm not complaining, only because I think of Gryffindor...they haven't won in a LONG while.
I was reading through the comments and relate most to those who only get a few good ideas every week. I'm all for the quality of drabbles over quantity. I always end up writing angst so I like my drabbles to be well thought-out and powerful. (The clown week is not going good for me, so far). I basically just meant to say that I don't think any drabbles that I've seen have been such poor quality that I think they're posted just for points. That's why I love that community so much. All the writers are very good.
Don't give up, there are a lot of Angsty Clown drabbles out there, several of them posted already. I have faith that you will be able to come up with something. :-)
I came across your journal through hp100 and was thinking of contributing some stuff this week. My points always to go Hufflepuff. Maybe I'll have to sit down and make sure I actually get some done now ;)
Hi, I just happened over here today. Every week I get about two good ideas and that's it. Don't think I'll get another "spring" one in time, as it's already late afternoon.
But re: Hufflepuff -- I couldn't help but notice that once I joined hp100 and started posting for Hufflepuff, we started winning. Every week. It's not that I post a lot, in fact, I feel a little guilty not doing more, but somehow, the cosmos fell into place and a bunch of people must have started posting for Hufflepuff at the same time as me. So I like to preen a little, even though I have nothing to do with it.
Another re: Hufflepuff -- it's nice to see that the general quality of the Puff drabbles is really high. Preening again, even though you and jelsemium are the ones who lead the pack in that regard.
We like your ideas, and would hardly say you have nothing to do with it. Everybody helps! Preening is entirely justified on your part. *g* Especially about the quality. I don't feedback enough, but I'm always happy to see your drabbles, and not just because of the house designation.
