Stray HP Thought
Nov. 12th, 2003 11:31 amI have seen stories in which either Ron or Hermione goes evil or is supposed to be from the beginning. This was called to mind by a comment in a discussion thread. (In my experience it seems that Hermione going dubious or evil tends to be treated somewhat more sympathetically -- as in, the author is having fun exploring the ambiguity or fall, etc. -- whereas Ron is somewhat more likely to end up that way either to make him an obstacle or to get him out of the way, but possibly I'm imagining the trend. But there are also sympathetic Ron-falls. I wrote one. A brief one with a mildly alarming tendency toward pseudo-nursery-rhymes, but still.)
But, you know... much as I like them all, the "good guys" in HP all misbehave periodically, so there's room in fic to play with the idea of pretty much anybody. And it occurred to me to wonder if anybody actually sends Ron and Hermione down a darker path together.
I mean, she sets a teacher on fire and drugs a couple of classmates, and he admires her for it. Surely there's room to work with that.
