Apr. 12th, 2003 11:03 pmI feel like dancing. No clue why; it started after I got home.
My bees seem to be doing very well. We gave them sugar water again. Given that they literally couldn't go outside for most of last week due to the rather wet cold front that descended after a week apparently misplaced from early summer, and have thus had maybe three or four days of forage time, I would guess that the first batch is mostly what they turned into the lovely fresh white wax on the center frames.
I saw eggs. This pleases me. I'm a bit worried that a couple of cells appeared to have *two* eggs, but perhaps she was just settling in. (I'm glad I got a marked queen this year. I don't think she's quite as much bigger than the workers as the other one was.)
I have no idea what it is they've found off in this one particular direction past the back yard, but it must be pretty good, because that's the direction last year's bees always went. (They've also found the holly bushes.)
