Weird.

I am, in some respects, one of the Guilt-Sponge People -- that is, it's fairly easy to make me feel bad about something, although actually getting me to do something about it is trickier. I can come up with convoluted ways to blame myself for things, et cetera. It's not like I never recognize what I'm doing, or someone else's attempts, but that doesn't necessarily prevent the emotional reaction.

The odd thing is, twice in just a few days, I've seen people attribute guilt-tripping as a motive in cases where I not only wouldn't have pegged it as guilt-tripping, but am not sure I'd even have felt particularly guilty. (Although it's a little hard to say when detached, I suppose.)

We are much alike in this. I blame myself for anything that goes wrong in finances even though the only thing I might overspend on is groceries. It's not as though I go out and buy clothing I can't afford every other day.

Heh. I need to spend more on groceries, actually, and make sure they include things we can prepare quickly when we get home hungry and don't want to cook anything that takes much time or effort -- we fell into the habit of eating out too much under those circumstances, for a while.

If I were wealthy, I'd have a cook to handle the grocery shopping and I'd eat out all the time. That being said, I enjoy shopping on a daily basis and seeing just how little I can spend each time. I did pretty good a couple of weeks ago, but it really is a hassle when one is working all day long. Grocery stores at 5 o'clock are a mild version of hell.

Yipe. I understand daily grocery shopping is the norm in some areas (larger cities?) but I'd rather go once a week at most, ideally having eaten dinner first.
