Maybe because you've been in the fandom for years now and know all too well how unreasonable people can be?

Perhaps, but plenty of people were actually very nice about it and a few have poked me on TR within the past couple of months. I think the problem is letting myself absorb some of the attitudes of people with partially similar canon interpretations. Well, some of them are worth absorbing, but I need a better filter.
