Yipe!

My labrat Neopet changed from a Grarrl to a Moehog yesterday. It's been so long since there was a significant change in appearance that I apparently was paying no attention to the results page, so I did a doubletake when I hopped on at lunchtime.

In other news, I'm toying with the idea of Star Wars fic. This happens occasionally and has never actually produced anything. For some reason, I'm extremely shy about the idea in a way I don't remember being when I started in HP, and in a different way from when I started in X-Men. Not to mention I need to finish an award application and my genficathon story. (My challenges ended up being fairly, ah, challenging. Heh. I hope what I'm working on will be satisfactory.)

Instead of doing any of these, yesterday I went roaming through some other people's fanfics.... Alan has recommended one he really liked, too, but as it's actually one of the novels I'll have to wait until I can get to a bookstore or library that has it.

I can understand the nervousness at the thought of writing Star Wars fic. It's an old fandom, with a lot of canon in the Expanded Universe to catch up on. One thing I do, whenever I have a story that doesn't pan out, is to keep the basic idea around somewhere and refer back to it when I've decided on something new to write. It helps to reuse your old ideas that didn't work out in new settings and stories; they can work much better than in the original story.

I don't particularly WANT to catch up on the entire EU, which is part of it. I've enjoyed some of the novels, but others were just dull.
